SUMMER I - vacation at the dance hall, day 1.
Share
Summer......during the months of July and August, there are no classes in compulsory schools and most non-compulsory ones in the Czech Republic. Year-round courses for adults, taking into account the holiday period, also take a two-month break. So even the course where I go to my favorite instructor Zita to train and learn new movement principles is closed.
I decided to try to arrange a dance hall for individual training for the summer, which I'm spending in Prague anyway. It worked.
As feedback, I record myself for an hour or two. Then, at home, I watch the recording repeatedly to remember what looks wrong with my efforts and what needs to be improved in some way.
Sometimes I improvise, because invisible pathways to connect with music can easily become dusty from inactivity, and it's good to keep them active - you never know when an opportunity will arise, even though, at 53, I'm faced with the fact that I'll most likely never get on stage for a live performance again.....
Dancing has become my very favorite self-maintenance activity - to remain an active, mobile woman who can age gracefully and is able to take care of herself and her affairs well into old age.....
